Notes to Passengers

For your own comfort and safety and that of other passengers, please observe the following rules*:

  1. Please queue up for and board the bus as directed; give passengers in wheelchairs priority in boarding the bus.
  2. Please board and alight by means of specified doors; take care of accompanying children and elderly passengers.
  3. Please tender the exact fare or pay by Octopus card. No change will be provided. Passengers may not collect bus fares from other passengers inside the bus.
  4. Please move into the bus compartment after boarding.
  5. The bus captain has the right to refuse further boarding when the bus has reached the authorised carrying capacity.
  6. The bus captain may refuse to permit any person who is believed to be intoxicated, in a dirty condition or indecently dressed to enter or travel on the bus to avoid causing disturbance or danger to other passengers.
  7. Do not bring live poultry, birds, pets or any other animals onto the bus (except guide dogs accompanying the blind).
  8. Each passenger is only allowed to carry parcel(s) of a total volume not exceeding 0.1m3 and a total weight not exceeding 5 kg and not containing goods of a dangerous or offensive nature. The parcel(s) shall not occupy any seat and shall not be placed in the gangway or stairway of the bus.
  9. To carry compressed oxygen cylinder(s) for self-medical use (‘oxygen cylinder(s)’) onto a bus, a passenger should:
    1. show that the cylinder(s) is/are for self-medical use by inhaling the oxygen through a nasal cannula or oxygen mask connecting to the oxygen cylinder(s);
    2. declare to the bus captain the number of oxygen cylinders brought before boarding and obtain the bus captain’s consent before paying the fare; and
    3. inform the bus captain before alighting.
  10. The bus captain has the right to refuse the boarding of the passenger with oxygen cylinder(s) if he / she refuses to comply with the relevant requirements or if the boarding of the passenger will lead to the total number of oxygen cylinders on board exceeds two.
  11. When wishing to alight, press the stop button in advance to allow sufficient time for the bus captain to stop.
  12. Please do not obstruct the staircase or doorways. The bus captain may give directions in the interests of public safety to any passenger, including requesting:
    1. passengers travelling with a baby stroller to fold and place the stroller properly in the bus (except for pediatric wheelchairs);
    2. passengers carrying a bicycle to fold and pack the bicycle properly before boarding the bus.
  13. Do not stand beyond the yellow line marked inside the bus compartment when the bus is in motion to keep the bus captain’s sightline clear.
  14. Do not stand on the upper deck or staircase of a double-deck bus when the bus is in motion.
  15. Hold the handrails tightly when standing or moving about inside the bus compartment and on the staircase. Sit down when seats are available and fasten the seat belt if one is installed.
  16. Please offer your seat to those in need, such as the elderly, the disabled, pregnant women or those travelling with young children.
  17. Do not speak to the bus captain when the bus is in motion unless it is necessary to do so on the grounds of safety. Do not use any intimidating, insulting or abusive language or act in a manner likely to disturb the bus captain or other passengers on board.
  18. Do not write graffiti on or vandalise any part of the bus.
  19. Smoking on buses is strictly prohibited by law. Please do not eat, drink, spit or litter on board in order to keep the bus compartment clean.
  20. A passenger who finds any property that has been left on the bus should immediately hand it in the state in which he/she finds it to the bus captain or the terminus supervisor.
  21. Please be considerate to fellow passengers, and refrain from causing a nuisance to others by talking too loudly, clipping nails, pushing against the seat in front with your knees, putting your feet on the seats, etc.
  22. Passengers with a temperature or respiratory problems should wear a face mask.
  23. Senior citizens aged 65 and over and children under the age of 12 are charged one half of the adult single fare rounded up to the nearest ten cents.
  24. Children under the age of 4, if accompanied by an adult and not occupying a seat, will be carried free of charge. Not more than two children will be carried free of charge per adult.
  25. Do not use coins of denominations of less than $1 for payment of an amount exceeding $2.
  26. The scheduled bus frequency may be adjusted subject to traffic conditions without prior notice to passengers.

Privacy Policy

1) General
1.1 The Kowloon Motor Bus Co. (1933) Ltd. ("KMB") is committed to protecting your privacy. Please read the Privacy Policy Statement carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding how your personal information will be treated. The Privacy Policy Statement applies to all registered and unregistered users of the KMB Website and may from time to time be updated, revised, reposted and changed as deemed necessary.
1.2 By using the Website, you consent to our collection and use of your Personal Data as described in the Privacy Policy Statement.
1.3 The following words and expressions shall have the following meaning: "Personal Data" means any identifying information or sensitive data (including but not limited to name, identity card number, gender, date of birth, contact details, occupation, e-mail address, Octopus Card number and credit card information, etc) of a person; and "Privacy Policy Statement" means this Privacy Policy Statement as amended from time to time and posted on the Website.
1.4 In the event that there is any inconsistency between the english and the Chinese version of this Privacy Policy Statement, the english version shall prevail.
2) Your Privacy
2.1 KMB respects your legal rights of privacy when collecting, storing, using and transmitting personal data and the Privacy Policy Statement explains our privacy policies and practices. It is our policy to pledge to comply with the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, Chapter 486 of the Laws of the Hong Kong. In doing so, we will ensure compliance by our staff to the strictest standards of security and confidentiality.
3) Minimal Collection of Personal Data
3.1 We collect your Personal Data when you register as a User of the Online Shopping Mall or the Real Time Quote or at times when you are requested to furnish us with your Personal Data.
3.2 If you are under the age of 18, we recommend that you seek prior consent from your parent or guardian before providing us with any of your Personal Data.
3.3 The purposes for which we may use your Personal Data include but are not limited to :
(i) to provide and download content to you;
(ii) to process your orders, send billing to and receive payment from you;
(iii) to handle and follow up your service calls, enquiries and complaints;
(iv) to better understand the demographics of our users and members to enable us to provide better services tailored to your needs;;
(v) to market our products and services;
(vi) to verify your identity;
(vii) to manage your membership account (if applicable);
(viii) for our future marketing purposes and those of third parties; and
(ix) for such purposes as would enable us or our affiliates or the transferees of such Personal Data to provide website or other electronic services verification of your identity.
4) Disclosure
4.1 In cases where we do collect Personal Data from you, we will :
(i) tell you that we are doing so and the use that we will make of such Personal Data as we collect;
(ii) give you the opportunity to "opt out" (i.e. to restrict the uses we will make of such Personal Data)
4.2 We agree to take all practicable steps to keep your Personal Data confidential but we may transfer/assign such Personal Data to the following parties :
(i) any actual or proposed assignee, transferee or successor of our rights in respect of our users;
(ii) our agents, affiliates or associates where it is deemed necessary to improve our content, products and services; and
(iii) other companies and organisations (including advertising agencies) which may wish to provide marketing materials to you.
4.3 Except as expressly mentioned in the Privacy Policy Statement, we will not disclose your Personal Data unless we are required to do so by law or we reasonably believe that such action is necessary to :
(i) comply with the laws or applicable regulations;
(ii) protect and defend our rights and property;
(iii) protect against misuses or unauthorised use of the Website; or
(iv) protect the personal safety or property of our users or members or the public.
5) Links to Other Websites
5.1 The Privacy Policy Statement only applies to the Website. If you click on any hyperlink or advertisement linking to another website that is provided on the Website, you will leave the Website for another location. At any other website, the protection of your privacy, personal data and your exposure to cookies are not our responsibility and you are advised to refer to the privacy policy of that other location (if any).
6) Web Logs
6.1 When you visit the Website, our server may record the domain name of your computer and may also track the web pages you have visited. Such recordings and tracings are conducted for the purpose of measuring the traffic, and to gauge the popularity of various parts of the Website so that we can obtain general knowledge of our visitors. Such traffic data is collected for KMB's internal use and for sharing with our content providers. We may also share the summarised data with advertisers for the promotion of the Website. Use of traffic data will not identify you as an individual.
7) Security
7.1 Once we have collected your Personal Data, it will be maintained securely in our system. Your Personal Data, however stored, will be accessed only by our employees or contractors who are authorised to do so. Where Personal Data is stored electronically in an independent server, it will be password-protected (or under some equivalent form of protection) and accessible only by authorised personnel of KMB or our contractors. Employees and contractors designated to handle Personal Data will be instructed to do so only in accordance with the Privacy Policy Statement. We shall take every step to ensure that your Personal Data is properly protected. However, given the nature of the Internet, we cannot guarantee absolute security. We accept no responsibility for any such unauthorised access and if you are concerned about such unauthorised access you should not provide us with your Personal Data.
8) Use of Personal Data in Legal Proceedings
8.1 If it becomes necessary to take action against you for any reason whatsoever including recovering from you any money you owe us, you expressly agree that the Personal Data provided by you can be relied upon in identifying and taking legal action against you.
9) Your Rights to Access and Retention
9.1 You may at any time request access to, correct and update Personal Data relating to you in any of our records. You may also ask us to delete you from any active mailing or distribution list kept by us. To exercise any of your aforesaid rights, you should write to us at the address below with the envelope marked "Confidential". In response, we may ask you to provide certain details about yourself so that we can be sure you are the person to whom the Personal Data refers.

DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES; LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

We have no control over linked sites and we are not responsible for the content of any linked site, or any links contained in such linked sites, or any changes or updates of such sites. We are not responsible for webcasting or any other form of transmission received from linked sites. We provide these links to you only as a convenience and the inclusion of any linked site on the Website does not imply endorsement by us of the linked site or any association with its operator. We shall not be responsible or liable for any loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of the use of the services or the content of any linked site. Any concern regarding linked sites should be directed to the responsible site administrator or webmaster.
8) Use of Route Search Service (the "Service") on Google Maps
8.1 By using the Service, the web user expressly agrees to the terms and conditions of

In any event, KMB, its officers, directors, employees or agents shall not be liable for any losses, claims or damages suffered by any web user whatsoever and howsoever arising or resulting from his/her use or inability to use the Website and its contents, including but not limited to negligence acts and disputes between any parties.
8.3 All web users agree to indemnify and hold harmless KMB, its officers, directors, employees and agents from and against any claims, actions, demands, losses or damages arising out of or resulting from their use of the Google Maps and/or the Website or their infringement of any intellectual property rights.
8.4 The Google Maps may include hyperlinks to other websites or contents or resources. KMB has no control over such websites or contents or resources that are provided by Google or any third parties. Web users acknowledge and agree that KMB is not responsible for the content of such external websites or resources, and does not endorse any advertising, products or other materials on or available from such external websites or resources.
8.5 Information relating to the Google Maps is shown on the Website for reference only. For KMB bus route information, please refer to the route tables of KMB at www.kmb.hk.
9) You will exercise and rely solely on your own judgment in using the Website for purchasing or redeeming products. In no event shall we be liable to you or any other person for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential damages, including any loss of business or profit, goodwill, use, data or other intangible losses, arising out of any use or inability to use the Website, or the use of or reliance on the content or service available on the Website, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages, including without limitation unauthorised access to your User's Account using your Login Name and Password or transmission of content or any transactions entered into through the Website. You specifically agree that neither we nor our affiliates shall be responsible or liable for any threatening, defamatory, obscene, offensive or illegal content or conduct of any other party or any infringement of another's rights, including intellectual property rights.
